How we label places
Every place gets one label. We never guess it from a name, a cuisine, an area or an owner.
Certified
The place appears on a halal certification body's published outlet list, and we show the body and the date we checked. Right now no place has this label, because we have not yet been given permission to use any certifier's list.
Unverified
Someone on OpenStreetMap has tagged the place as halal. We have not found a certificate and have not checked it ourselves. OpenStreetMap is edited by volunteers, so tags can be wrong or out of date. Always ask the business if it matters to you.
No halal information
The place is in the Food Standards Agency hygiene register, and we have found nothing saying it is or is not halal. These places do not appear on city lists or the map. You only see them if you search. It does not mean the place is not halal.
When a name says “halal”
If a business has “halal” in its name we say so on its page, but its label does not change.
